Right Between Disney and Ditka
May 9, 2008
I love it when quotes fall into your lap and say everything you want to say, but better.
I was going to write about being positive, when I decided to start rereading The Art of Seduction for fun. I had some time to kill and ended up opening at this quote.
“Never complain and never explain.”
-Benjamin Disraeli
In the Chapter about Charmers, Robert Greene paints an elegant portrait of talkative, proper, and positive seducers. Using nice words while sharing interests like a mirror, the Charmers are the seducers that make the world feel good and make everyone feel good about themselves - just the kind of game I want to adopt.
I read on, and found the portrait of Benjamin Disraeli, an Englishman, born Jewish, who rose to unheard of fame through wooing Queen Victoria in the late 1800’s. The short excerpt of his life was a refreshing look at the seducer, the Alpha Male, and positivity.
Just what I needed.
A fresh perspective.
His other quotes are just as good as the first.
- “Never apologize for showing feeling.
- When you do so, you apologize for truth.”
- “Talk to a man about himself and he will listen for hours.”
What’s best, is that on QuotationsPage.com, he right between Walt Disney and Mike Ditka. ![]()

The Art of Seduction is an amazing source of history and quotes. It’s defientely not a how to book, which some guys have mistaken it for, but your idea of reading it just for fun, is defientely the way to go.
